Earth Force Marine Platoon

I finished my Earth Force platoon!  The Army Painter's Quickshade, followed by a spray of their matte finish, worked very well.  The Strong Tone may be a little too dark but I'm not quibbling.  It was a very easy and effective process.  I may buy the Soft Tone and see how that looks on the Sahadeen.  Anyway, here are the pics!  (Apologies for the poor quality, iPhone shots.)

Center figure is base paint with highlights.
Rear figures have a coat of Quickshade Strong Tone.
Same as above but reversed.
Finished platoon leader and squad leaders.
These have received a spray of matte finish and had their bases textured.
Basic 4 man fire team.
The bases I finished with dabs of white glue and a sprinkle of the mix I used on the table and terrain features.
Special weapons.
L - sniper team, C - missile launcher,  R - light machine gun.
The whole platoon on my painting table.
Following are some "action" shots on my desert game table with the terrain I've made.  I think this is all coming together well!
The sniper team in the rocks on the left flank overlooking the battlefield.
The platoon advances through the center in bounding overwatch by fire team.
The missile launcher and machine gunner hold the hill on the right flank, providing fire support.
One fire team provides security for the special weapons on the right flank.  The advancing platoon can be seen in the background.
Aerial reconnaissance shows the platoon advancing in good order.
The view from across the table.
A closer shot of the platoon advancing towards the camera in the center.
Aerial view from enemy table side.
I've begun cleaning and assembling my Sahadeen platoon.  When they are painted I will be playing some one off battles and getting used to the forces.  I'm using Two Hour Wargames 5150: Star Army for my ruleset.  At some point I will begin a campaign but I still have not decided if my protagonist will be Earth Force or Sahadeen.

Until next time, carry on!

  1. That's fantastic! At first, I was sure they are in 28mm. Can't wait to see some of the AARs!

  2. I think for this sized fiugre the darker shader works well.
They look very good on the terrain too.

    1. Thanks! I like how they look but I will be curious to see how a lighter shade looks. I think the bases especially got too dark to match my table very well.

  4. They look great. I got some of the soft tone the other day but not tried it yet. The Dark Tone is very much like GW BADAB Black I think the soft tone is to be like sepia.

Table is rocking along nicely dude!

    1. Thank you! If you use the soft tone and can post I'd love to see how it looks and hear your thoughts. The Strong Tone is a very deep brown/sepia color. I'm guessing the soft tone is a lighter shade of sepia. They also have a shader that is black in color. I think it is called Dark Tone. Thanks for looking and commenting.

  5. The figures and table look great. I just ordered some stuff from rebel minis including the Earth Force platoon. I can only hope my figures end up looking half as good as yours.

    1. Thank you! These are great figures for painting. I think you'll find that despite their small size they paint up well.

    1. Relax. The mistake was mine and only in my post to TMP. I've corrected the post. You'll note the blog correctly identifies them as Rebel.

    3. No worries. My embarrassment may have made me a bit defensive. Peace. ; )
