A bridge like this would be an ideal spot to set up a fortified survivors camp. |
Some creepy graffiti under the bridge. |
Another view. |
A view of the downtown from another bridge. |
A closer view of downtown. |
This hospital building was abandoned about 8 years ago. Some of the windows are broken and there is a lot of overgrowth. Interesting to observe how nature retakes our structures. |
A house that burned. And my thumb... |
An abandoned factory complex, partially demolished. |
The abandoned factory from across the river. |
Closer view. |
A different, active factory viewed from under the bridge. |
House that has not been painted in years. Another interesting study in Nature's reclamation. |
The alley behind my home. It was very quiet this morning...kind of creepy. |
Sign on my neighbors garage. Seems appropriate for the Apocalypse. |
A neighbor's shed that is getting overgrown. |
Other than running and daydreaming I've been painting zombies. Should have 6 more to show you by next week.
I've been checking out buildings where I live and work!
ReplyDeleteLooking pretty good. Apart from most of it being abandoned!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, the ideas are just outside our doors.
Good, creepy photos. As for where you live. Willmington VA. I really don't have a clue, sorry.
ReplyDeleteNice set of photos. I'm going to guess that you live in Mayhem City!
ReplyDeleteWhoa there are quite a few abandoned buildings! Some great zombie scenes for something like the "walking dead" or something :)
ReplyDeleteThese photographs are very reminiscent of the computer game "Fallout 3"and very atmospheris for a zombie apocalypse setting. The alley behind your house looks almost exactly like a group of houses where there are cannibals in the game.
ReplyDeleteI've always looked at buildings whereever I go but I'll be looking at them in a new light now. *shivers*
Thanks all for your comments. I've been looking at buildings for inspiration and story ideas for a while now. Glad I'm not the only one. Many urban areas in the U.S. are pretty near post-apocalyptic already so the ideas are easy to come by. And for those of you wondering, these shots are from east Toledo in Ohio. The big bridge is the new I-280 bridge where it crosses the Maumee river.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out who close we all are to settings for post apoc games. It is something I have skirted round but some really good ideas for game locations here.
