15mm SciFi Progress

Another quick update of what's on my desk...
Critical Mass Games Vanguard Mecha assembled. I magnetized the waist so it can torso twist.
Khursasan "bug holes" and "abandoned mineshaft" finished.
Another view.  The lighting on these is from my basement fluorescents so the color looks different than last week.
First highlight (heavy!) on the dropship. I'm really liking this model!
Stripped and undercoated the space demons. I am considering new paint schemes.
That's it for now. Until next time, carry on!

    1. Thanks! Working a little bit everyday is the goal. Amazing how much can get done that way.

  2. Very nice! The ability to swivel the walker is great.

    1. Thanks! It was dead easy to do: Just filed down the knob on the body section, glued a magnet into the recession on the hips, made sure the magnets were aligned properly and glued the second magnet in place of the knob on the body. Works great!

  3. The bug-holes alongside the dropship, just shows what a large model it is. The bug holes remined me of the entrances to opal mines in Australia - all good stuff.

    1. Yeah, it is a large model. I need to stat it out for Gruntz 15mm when I'm finished painting it. I think it will be a great centerpiece for my Earth Force Marines army.

  4. Nice progress - the colours on drop ship are really clean - did you drybrush it?

    1. Thanks! Yes, I did. I undercoated it with white spray primer. Then painted on a thinned coat of "Khaki Tan" craft paint. Then I added an even thinner wash of light brown. Next was a heavy "drybrush" of Khaki Tan. The idea is to load the brush so paint stays on all the upper surfaces but does not get into the cracks. It takes a light touch, some swirling of the brush and making sure to not overload paint onto the brush. It can be a slow process but I like the results. I will add a couple more dry brushed highlights using Ivory mixed with the Khaki Tan.

  5. So...does the mecha get to wrestle with the queen bug? Or is it for something else?

    1. The mechs will be part of my Earth Force Marine army. I have two more to assemble and will paint them all together, likely in a similar scheme to the dropship. I'm planning on using some GW Tyranid hormagaunts for the big bugs to wrestle the mechs.
